Lisbon is a “city built on seven hills.” The urban sprawl across this rolling geographical landscape provides many opportunities to take advantage of spectacular views of the city and the Tagus River. One of the more popular spots to appreciate the vista while having a tea or cocktail is Lisbon rooftop bar Park in Bairro Alto.

Park is actually a rooftop parking lot turned into a hip, elevated garden terrace. 180º views of Lisbon can be enjoyed in the sunny afternoon or by starlight through the evening. Potted plants and wooden patio furniture provide a natural ambiance and casual comfort.

Feira da Ladra

Lisbon's flea market is called "Feira da Ladra," often thought to mean "Thieves' Market" (in Portuguese, "ladra" is a woman thief) but it actually derives from "ladro," a bug or a flea found in antiques. A market of this type is thought to have been in place in Lisbon since the 12th Century, and the name "Feira da Ladra" was first mentioned in the 17th Century.
The traders here are perfectly legal, offering everything from junk to unexpected treasures, around the Campo de Santa Clara, Alfama

The market is held every Tuesday and Saturday, from dawn to the early afternoon. There are small stalls, but many traders simply display their store on a stretched-out blanket.

Hand-made artisan goods, CD's, books, clothes, coins, military objects, antiques and furniture are all on display here, so the occasional bargain is still possible.
